Summer Camp
What a treat! Olympian Cathal Doyle who will be competing for Ireland in the 1500m in the Paris Olympics signed autographs today at our camp. We all wish Cathal the very best of luck and look forward to watching him and all of the Irish Olympic team in action in 2 weeks time!!
A round up of the final day of our Athletics Ireland 123.ie Summer Camp.
We had 3 teams competing in the Heptathlon, doing sprint hurdles, long jump, high jump, javelin, shot putt, 200m and 800m (shorter distance for 6 year olds!!) What a fantastic job they did, with all of the events and then a treasure hunt completed in 4 hours!!! Kudos to the Leaders: Seoda, Conor, Lisa and Matthew, and to their technically and athletically proficient assistants: Dearbhla, Grace, Cliodhna, Joshua, Lucas and Max. We couldn't have done it all so well without them. We were delighted to have campers from neighbouring Clubs also and we enjoyed their company, their commitment to the events, their humour and their friendship. Athletics is truly a great sport, with an event for everyone, as Larry used to say, and an inclusive sport also, for girls and boys of all abilities. Roll on Paris and we wish all of our Irish Olympians the best of luck at the 2024 Olympic Games, particularly Cathal Doyle, who took time out of his session to sign autographs. Cathal will represent Ireland in the 1500m.
